A LITTLE BIT OF SPOOKY

Trick-or-treat! Spooky season is on the doorstep! In addition to defeats, terrible and disgusting things and situations happened in sports. Therefore, we've collected some facts and stories that will send chills down your spine and make your knees tremble!

Tragedy at the Olympic games

The Munich massacre is one of the most tragic and bloody events in the sports world. Eleven members of the Israeli team and one German policeman at the 1972 Munich Olympics were killed by members of the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. The attackers' mission was to infiltrate the Olympic Village, take Israeli athletes hostage and demand the release of 236 prisoners: 234 in Israel and two leaders of the West German terrorist group Baader-Meinhof. The shocking thing is that about 900 million people watched this terrorist attack live. Is it worth mentioning that after the Munich massacre, the host countries of the Olympic Games began to spend insane amounts of money on security?

Once again crazy fans

A terrible incident also happened in big tennis: the best tennis player in the world, Monica Seles, was stabbed in the back. On April 30, 1993, Monica played a quarterfinal match against Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva in Hamburg. Bending down to get water, the girl suddenly felt a sharp pain in her back. She turned to see a man in a cap taunting her and stabbing her with a 9-inch knife. Later it turned out that the attacker was a rabid fan of another tennis player Steffi Graf and thus decided to get rid of her opponent. Monica was rushed to the hospital. Although she wholly healed her physical injury two years later. But Monica's psychological state after the attack did not allow her to continue her brilliant career.
